"Latino Evangelical CONLAMIC Leaders, are concerned with the Democratic Party Platform, on Immigration Reform"
CHICAGO, IL- After today's Call-Conference with Senator Barack Obama, the latino evangelical pastors, calling participants on behalf of the National Coalition of Latino Clergy & Christian Leaders (CONLAMIC) are expressing concerns, regarding Senator Obama's commitment on immigration reform issues.
"The main and most important factor for us, to express our support to Senator Barack Obama, is contingent to his commitment to Comprehensive Immigration Reform and that, with a Democratic controlled Congress and the White House, he will make good on his promise to have such immigration reform in his first year", which we will like to see that happen on the first 100 days of his presidency",
says the Rev. Herman Perez, CONLAMIC Regional Vice-President from Chicago.
The concerns among CONLAMIC latino evangelical pastors leaders, developed when Senator Obama was asked by one of the Pastors "will you commit yourself to have the Democratic Platform to stop the raids, deportations and mistreating of undocumented immigrants in custody of ICE Agents?"
Senator Obama's response was, "I do not have a copy of the Platform with me and will not like to respond to such question without further knowing all details".
"As Evangelical Latino Ministers, we are also praying that, Senator Obama's faith values will help him to understand that, for him to continue earning our vote, he needs to address also other important issues such as, "education reform and parental empowerment on all related to their kids education, plus his assurance to defend the State of ISRAEL, without any hesitation", also said Dr. Antonio Bolainez, a member of the CONLAMIC Executive Committee
and Texas Coordinator for Latino Evangelical Pastors for Obama, from McAllen, Texas.
CONLAMIC (National Coalition of Latino Clergy & Christian Leaders) is the largest latino pastors and christian ministers advocacy organization in the Country, representing over 16,000 members of the Clergy with chapters in 34 States. |
